Gundersen is specialised in intellectual property law as well as compliance and responsible business conduct (in particular responsible investments and business and human rights).
Gundersen started practicing law in 1992 and has assisted clients from a broad range of industries and in particular the life science sector, where she worked with IPR, contracts, EU-law, regulatory issues and litigation. She has also worked with many other innovative and creative industries, from large oil/gas suppliers to publishers and producers of branded goods and design products. Gundersen has extensive international experience from cross-border litigation in several fields. She represented the Estate of Anders Jahre for ten years, with responsibility for litigation in England and the Cayman Islands as well as Norwegian court proceedings.
In recent years, Gundersen has worked as a consultant in the field of responsible business conduct, focusing mainly on business and human rights, responsible investments and compliance with the various international standards in this field. As a consultant for public and private enterprises such as the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NBIM, and KLP, she has reviewed and advised on various aspects of responsible business conduct, and written a number of reports, e.g. on the human rights and environmental risks of shipbreaking. She was responsible for developing and teaching a series of workshops in «human rights due diligence» on behalf of the Norwegian OECD National Contact Point in 2015-2016.
For many years, Gundersen has been a supervisor and external examiner for several legal subjects at the University of Oslo’s, and has lectured extensively at various conferences on intellectual property law, life science law (regulatory issues and issues pertaining to contract law) as well as business and human rights and responsible investments. She has published several legal articles and was co-editor of the book Aktuell Immaterialrett (Current Issues in Intellectual Property Law).
Gundersen joined SANDS in 2018. She holds a law degree from the University of Oslo, Faculty of Law, where she also worked as a researcher for 5 years. Previously, she was partner of the law firm BAHR, where she practiced for 15 years and was head of the firm’s IPR group for ten years. She has also been Senior Legal Advisor at the International Law and Policy Institute – ILPI. Gundersen has lived and worked in Africa for several years, most recently in South Africa from 2008 until 2012.
