Bjørn S. Holmesland
Holmesland is part of the firm’s Petroleum- energy- and company law.
Holmesland has long and extensive experience within the oil-, gas- and energy industry, land based industry and shipping. He has worked as a lawyer for Statoil ASA, as lawyer for Wilh. Wilhelmsen Ltd. ASA and he was, for many years, Chief Legal Advisor in Saga Petroleum ASA and he has been partner in law firms. His latest position was as Legal Director at Norsk Titanium AS.
Holmesland has a broad and extensive knowledge within the petroleum- and energy sector. He has i. a. worked with drawing up and negotiating dry- and wet-gas sales agreements towards customers in Europe, owners- and transportation agreements for pipeline systems on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), the licensing regulations for NCS, negotiations regarding purchase and sale of vessels, ship financing, management - and pool agreements, hiring of drilling rigs and other charter parties, assisted during acquisitions of companies holding licenses on the NCS, incorporation of companies and negotiations regarding production licenses/production sharing contracts in i. a. Russia, Indonesia, Angola, Libya, Iran, Faroe Islands, Denmark, Germany. Holmesland has also worked on international financing agreements (both project and balance sheet) and the establishment of Saga Petroleum ASA’s ADR-program in New York.
Holmesland is mainly working with contracts law within the petroleum, energy and other industries and with company law and negotiations for clients both domestic and internationally. Holmesland has the last two years mainly worked with electric power regarding the establishment and construction of power plants in Peru and for Independent Power Producers (IPPs) in Ghana regarding the construction of gas fired power plant and the sale of electricity which encompasses the negotiations of Power Purchase Agreements and EPC – contracts.
