Steenstrup is one of Norway’s leading litigation lawyers, and has litigated several major court cases and arbitration cases throughout the fields of civil law.
In 2015, Steenstrup litigated three principal issues for the Supreme Court; including two cases involving tort issues within the area of business law.

Steenstrup is central to a number of processes to public authorities for businesses to obtain approvals or permits. On behalf of businesses or business organizations, he assists also to bring about changes in companies' public framework; be it changing practices, policies, regulations or laws.
Steenstrup has an extensive experience from a number of Norwegian and international directorships.
Steenstrup founded the firm in 1989, and he has been central to the firm’s expansion.
He holds a degree both as a lawyer and as a political scientist. Before he founded the law firm, Steenstrup was a member of Parliament for eight years, he has been Secretary of state in both the Finance Ministry and the Prime Minister's Office. For 12 years he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Norges Bank. He is a board member of The Interlex Group which is an international network of law firms in 59 countries. He is currently a member of the Oslo City Council and member of the Finance Committee.
