Mariana is a senior foreign lawyer at the Oslo office, dual-licensed by the New York Bar Association and the Brazilian Bar Association. A member of the technology group, Chapei works mainly with commercial law and contracts, financial regulation and its intersection with technology (fintech), and data privacy law.

Prior to joining SANDS, Chapei has worked as an in-house corporate, commercial and product counsel for PayPal, in its San Jose, CA headquarters, and for Synapse, a banking-as-a-service company, where she had the opportunity to work with several raising and established fintech companies. In Brazil, Chapei has worked at the Brazilian Stock and Commodities Exchange and two boutique law firms.

Chapei has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting international transaction agreements and providing regulatory guidance in connection with the launch and maintenance of diverse products, ensuring compliance with banking, financial, health sciences, and consumer regulation.

Chapei assists SANDS' clients with ongoing corporate, commercial, regulatory, and technology matters, focusing on commercial contracts and agreements, licensing and terms of service, privacy program and policies, regulatory review of products and registration of companies with regulatory agencies, and international mergers and acquisitions.
