State visit from Mozambique

This week SANDS hosted the Norway-Mozambique Energy Business & Investment Forum in our offices. The Forum and high level oil & gas delegation was headed by His Excellency Felipe Nyusi, the President of Mozambique and the Norwegian side was headed by Mr Torbjørn Røe Isaksen - the Minister of Trade & Industry. The Forum took place in connection with the President’s state visit in Norway and was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norwegian Energy Partners and the Norwegian-African Business Association. The event was fully booked and attended and covered by national and international press.

The event took place only one week after SANDS co-hosted the Nordic-African Business Summit where more than 400 guests attended to meet and hear presentations from His Excellency Patrice Talon, the President of Benin, Mrs Ine Eriksen Søreide - the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Robert Dussey – the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Togo, the Chairman of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, the Chief Economist of African Standard Chartered Bank, the CEO of Norfund and the Economic Advisor to the President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, as well as a team of our SANDS lawyers with hands-on experience from energy projects in Africa.

Our close cooperation with these events follow SANDS involvement and engagement in energy projects in 30+ African countries spanning more than 20 years. It demonstrates our commitment to business development on the African continent and our position as the No 1 legal adviser based in Norway in this sector. Through events like these we are also able to facilitate with establishing important and fruitful personal connections between our clients, relevant African and Norwegian industry leaders and governmental authorities both in African countries and in Norway.
