Katrine Malmer-Høvik

Katrine Malmer-Høvik serves as the Head of the Intellectual Property,

Data Protection and Technology practice group. She has more than 27 years of experience in

intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, design, copyright, marketing law, trade secrets, company names, and domain names. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries appointed her as a member of the Norwegian

Board of Appeal for Industrial Property Rights (KFIR) in 2023.

Katrine has extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution and regularly represents clients before the courts as part of SANDS’ litigation team. She also assists Norwegian and international clients in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including licence and cooperation agreements,

R&D agreements, technology transfer agreements, IT contracts, and consortium agreements. In addition, she advises on data protection, GDPR, and information security.

Katrine serves as an examiner in intellectual property law at the University of Oslo and is an experienced lecturer who frequently delivers courses and presentations. She is a board member of SANDS, The Life Science Cluster, and the international legal network INTERLEX.

She is ranked as a Leading Individual and Recommended Lawyer by Legal 500 in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and was also recognised by Chambers Global in 2025.
