Lars Tormodsgard

Lars Tormodsgard is affiliated with SANDS’ practice group for litigation and dispute resolution. He regularly advises and represents clients before the ordinary courts as well as in arbitration proceedings. In recent years, he has acted in a number of complex litigation matters involving demanding procedural issues, including cases concerning questions of jurisdiction.

Lars works closely with foreign counsel in Norwegian court proceedings and matters involving Norwegian parties, and has contributed to several cases involving parallel assistance from multinational legal teams.

Throughout his legal career, Lars has focused on the intersection between corporate law and dispute resolution, including liability cases (board and professional liability). Since 2005, he has served as an external examiner at the University of Bergen.

It is worth noting that Lars was one of two counsel of record in the so-called Westerdals case. In this matter, 472 students brought legal proceedings against Westerdals School of Communication, claiming repayment of unlawfully charged tuition fees (approximately NOK 30 million). The claim was upheld in full and, in 2018, the case was awarded Legal Achievement of the Year by Finansavisen.
