Contact with public authorities
SANDS has specialist expertise and extensive experience in assisting clients in their relationship, dealings and communication with public authorities. Many of our attorneys work at the crossroads of law and government on a daily basis; we deal with the regulatory authorities, agencies, supervisory authorities, ministries, government and the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget). Our attorneys understand the mechanisms and processes of governmental authorities at different levels of the administrative hierarchy.
Several of our attorneys also have experience from political positions at a national level, both as Members of Parliament and in government. They have the experience, methods and network necessary to assist in both legislative and political matters, where there are often discretionary considerations. Situations involving the public sector are often complex and both Norwegian and foreign clients need guidance and specific advice on how to achieve the best results.
We advise our clients on how to manage information, contact and negotiations with the different public bodies. We provide advice on the basis of the rules that apply to public administration. Our experience extends to dealing with official administrative decisions on a local, regional and national level. This may include input regarding zoning matters, licenses, concessions and other interactions. We also contribute consultatively to legislative processes affecting our clients.
