SANDS has a large and well-reputed employment practice that covers all aspects of employment law. Our practice provides legal services to boards of directors, management and HR departments within all aspects of individual- and collective employment law. Our clients include some of Norway’s largest companies, as well as foreign clients, with complex employment law issues ranging from international labour matters, management of incentive schemes, transaction support and conflict resolution.

Our advisory services incorporate the strategic elements of human resource management in addition to the core legal aspects. Our lawyers also work closely with client management, including HR, to ensure that operational and human factors such as organization, psychology and communication are properly integrated with legal issues to achieve optimal results. In certain situations we engage external consultants with special expertise on the human factors that influence the working environment. 

We provide transaction services to investors and corporate clients in mergers, de-mergers and acquisitions. We have particular experience with legal issues involving directors, management, employees and trade unions. This work includes determination of TUPE/ARD implications, drafting of SPA provisions relating to employees and due diligence, as well as advising clients on reorganizing the business and redundancy processes. Our insurance and pensions specialists work seamlessly in the transaction support team to ensure that pension schemes and financial consequences for deal value are properly managed.

Dispute resolution services are an unavoidable component of employment law. Conflicts at work can be harmful to any company, financially, operationally and as regards their reputation. The real cost of these conflicts, if not dealt with, is often underestimated. Many of our lawyers are experienced litigators, both in the normal courts and where arbitration is selected
